Our entire herd is on a full herd health program. Prior to sale, all bulls will have been Ivomeced, double vaccinated with foot rot vaccine, and boosted with 7-way, FP5 and one-shot.

The heifers will also be Ivomeced and boosted with 7-way, FP5 and one-shot.

In the summer, our cows happily graze many pastures full of lush green grass and legumes! Year round, they are given free choice salt and mineral tubs.

When breds enter their last trimester they are given a ration including all needed vitamins and minerals. This is generally mixed with barley or triticale silage, along with straw. Because Canadian winters aren't easy, there is always wind protection and fresh straw bedding for them.

Our bull calves are put onto a total mixed ration consisting of silage, ground hay, and pellets from Trouw Nutrition. Our heifers are put onto a ration of silage, ground greenfeed and straw until the New Year. The ration then changes as the weather gets colder to consist of ground greenfeed, silage, and pellets from Wilke. This is the same ration that the heifers we keep for ourselves receive.

Calves are always walked through a minimum of twice a day to check for health, and we find that this works very well for quieting them down as well.

If we can't trust the kids with them we don't keep them - it's that simple!
